Frequently Asked Questions
Three to four months before the wedding date is our recommendation. That window covers the design conversation, production, and any adjustments without compressing everything into the weeks before the ceremony. Custom bands take four to eight weeks from design approval. Plain and classic styles often come in faster. If the engagement ring has a specific profile, the wedding band needs to be designed around it, which means the engagement ring needs to be at the consultation.
Matching is one approach. Complementary and intentionally contrasting are two others. A matching band is designed to sit flush against the engagement ring as a set. A complementary band shares the same metal or a related aesthetic without being a matched pair. An intentionally contrasting band uses a different metal or finish as a deliberate choice. A yellow gold band alongside a platinum engagement ring reads as considered rather than mismatched when the two are worn together. Come in with the engagement ring and we will show you how different combinations actually look before anything is made.
Yes. Most of the bands we make are custom. You bring a direction, a width, a metal, and anything you have been drawn to, and we build from there. Designing both bands at the same time, if your partner is also getting one, produces a more intentional result than two separately designed pieces that end up together. Custom bands take four to eight weeks from design approval. Book a consultation three to four months before your wedding date and there is no pressure on the timeline.
Mostly width and weight. Men's bands typically run between 5mm and 8mm. Women's bands run from 1.5mm to around 4mm for most styles. Beyond width, the practical considerations are similar: metal, finish, and whether to include a stone. Both can be plain, textured, diamond-set, or gemstone-set. Our Men's Wedding Band Guide and Women's Wedding Band Guide cover each in detail, including what to think about for someone who has never worn a ring before.
